any shop should be able to order parts. good luck.. happy riding
That's what I do. I am fortunate to have a good dealer in the area that I have done business with for ten years now. They treat me well and whan I had my older bike, they would order what I needed at a reasonable price. Not all dealers are like this, I suggest, if you can, shop around and see which dealers in your area are the most accomodating. |

Old bike? Depending on the type of part, dealer or eBay.
One of my bikes is a 1990 Pacific Coast, and I was surprised at the variety of new, repro, and used parts I can get off eBay at a fraction of dealer list. Just make sure that they will ship via USPS for you. That way you may even avoid getting dinged for GST, and you avoid the high brokerage fees and even the GST collection that the major shipping/courier companies like FedEx and Purolator will charge. |

For just oil and filter, you can actually go to Canadian Tire.
Do some online research on Shell Rotella T Diesel oil (no joke). It apparently works well in motorcycles. A lot of people on this forum recommend it. Costs less than $15 for a 4L jug at CT, I got some on sale last week or so for like $11.79. As for oil filter, they're a bit pricey, but you can get K&N Performance Gold oil filters (again at Canadian Tire) for something like $17. If there's a Canadian Tire across the street from you, it'll save you a trip out to the dealer which is time and money anyway. You can look up the correct filter here: http://knfilters.com/search/appsearch.aspx Just do "Honda" --> "1983" and find your bike. * Do NOT get Fram oil filters. There might be one that fits your bike, but they're crap. * The K&N oil filters might also have another label. The 202 that I bought was also labelled as a 1004. Match the three digit code and you should be fine. You can also double-check at the parts desk if like, they had my '87 Kawasaki EX500 in their database so I'm thinking they should have your Honda too. Have fun! |

Also, how often do you guys change your oil filter?
At every oil change. The recommended oil change interval on my bike is 6,000 km or 6 months. I also change it at the first of the season after winter storage. Oil change interval recommended for other bikes may vary, it is a good idea to check into this. |
