Any opinions on an '84 FT 500 Ascot?

A co-workers brother is selling a couple of bikes currently not running. I got one running but although it looked good it had too many issues. ('82 kaw 750 CSR) The other bike is an '82 Honda FT500 Ascot which was only made until '84. I may pick it up tommorow and will check it out and try to get it running. I really don't have a clue as to when it was last running, etc. The '82 is a single cylinder with a 2 into 1 exhaust. Any Current or former owners of Ascots out there with an opinion or two. There is one obvious problem. There will not be many used parts out there. If anyone is curious he is asking $500 apiece. If the Ascot is overall a solid machine I will make an offer.
