Can anyone tell me what the most common problem to expect from a 26 year old Suzuki that's been covered in a garage might be? Naturally, you want to bring back the old lustre thats been lost which means disassembly right? I guess stainless steel bolts were not an option in 81 and I have "lost" 4 bolts so far, just removing the chrome. Two were the exhaust pipe bolts at the head. Has anybody else gone through this? These bolts must have started cracking while the bike was in use as they had rust halfway through the bolt. Anyway, they aren't budging now. Will an extractor work?
Was this a Suzuki problem or is it typical of "old iron"?
Any help Gentlemen would be appreciated....

Hey welcome. Probably the most common problem for any bike that's been sitting for awhile is the gumming up of the gas in the carbs. I wouldn't say that's a Suzuki only problem, just what happens with age and exposure to the elements. It is likely a stainless steel bolt would have given you just as much trouble. You always have to be extremely careful with old exhaust bolts of any kind, and you might as well go into it expecting for them to break or other problems to arise. you can try an extractor, but I'll be it may still be difficult. You'll probably want to get a left handed drill bit and make sure you have a tap ready to re thread the hole.
