I'm not familiar with that model your checking ,charging systems is similar for all bikes. First make sure you have a good battery. Harbor freight sells a trickle charger for less than ten bucks. If you don't have a multimeter you can pick up a cheap one there which will work for this fine. (probably less than $5)
Once you have your battery charged (should read well over 12 volts-closer to 13) you are now ready to check your charging system.
With the bike around 2000 rpms check the voltage at the battery, should be about 13 (approximately) Rev it up to 5000 or a bit above and check again, should be over 14. If this is not the case you almost assuredely have a charging problem.

A couple of points to remember
If your battery is no good, the test means nothing. IF THE BATTERY IS NO GOOD --the test means nothing. I repeat that because an almost good battery, isn't any good.

If you do have a charging problem there are various components that could be at fault. A bad Reg/rectifier can burn up a battery and a stator. If you find you have a charging problem check back and I or someone smarter than me will help. Good Luck, it makes being a motorcyclist more satisfying when you do your own wrenching. RJ

BTW before I get flamed for the approximate voltage numbers. I said they were approx. hehe. I don't know his bikes system. peace out.

Naw, I won't flame you on your numbers. Your info is very good for a starter kit do-it-yourselfer.
Only thing I would add though, is to clean all your related connections, especially the chassis(engine)ground connection. Resistance is your enemy.

You are absolutely correct! Many "bad charging systems" have been poor grounds.
