Default 1998 Buell, Thunderbolt S3 maintenance question.?

I snapped a 10 year old belt on my Buell doing wheelies stuntin with some friends and i have the new belt i'm just curious how long or hard it will be to take care of myself. I'm moderately mechanical. I know all basic mechanic skills i'm just curious the time frame so i could set up a work weekend to get it done. Thanx guys for all the help and wish me luck.

Since the Buell is a Sportster motor it's not nearly as complicated as a big twin. You should be able to do it no problem. Since this is your first time I'd give it an afternoon. Get yourself a manual first.

I would recommend getting a manual to get the correct specs on tension. It is not a difficult job and should take no more than an hour or so. Be sure to get the rear track adjusted correctly to avoid stability problems. Carefully inspect the sprockets for wear and replace as necessary. worn sprockets will greatly shorten the life of a new belt.

On some HDs you have to remove the swing arm to replace the belt, if you don't have to on a Buell it shouldn't be much of a job.
