Default Has anybody had their HD frame straightened?

I am wondering if anyone has had a damaged frame or front end parts straightened after an accident, vs. replacement with new parts. There is a straightnening service in Sacramento with a good reputation for these services. Any input?

i am an hd tech and harley davidson always recommends that if a frame is damaged it should be replaced, even if it is just scratched....i would not recommend trying to have it straightened.

I bought a superglide that was freakin smashed. It hit somthin hard. I bought it at a salvage yard off a guy who has straightened 3 or 4 of them. Mine runs straight and the frame was bent back enough to get into the motor. Many people told me it wasn't possible. I feel safe on mine, but it took a couple weeks of ridin before I did. Just do what you are comfortable with, but it can be done.

Of course it's possible but, if done by someone who knows what their doing. I've been building them for over 30 yr.s and over the course of that time have had to straighten a number of them without any issues. However, due to the potential liability and lack of properly trained personnel, I doubt you'll find any Harley dealership willing to try it. Check out your local custom bike fab shops in your area that have people with the skills and knowledge to do the job properly. Your other option of course is to buy a replacement frame ( cha-ching) and strip the old frame down, transfer everything over to the new one, and oh yeah, deal with your local DMV with the new frames MSO (Manufacturers Statement of Origin).

Don't worry, if he really does have a motorcycle and rides the way he talks, they'll be picking him up off the road with a sponge any day now. Dawg.

Yes, you would be correct if he were to purchase a "USED" frame. However,
I was suggesting a "NEW" one and referring to all the legal hoop jumping envolved.
