Do they come on at all before they start working, ie. shine steady but don't flash, or blink really fast?

If the bike is left outside for storage or in a cold garage it effects the electronic flasher. The flasher unit has to come up to a minimum temperature to work properly.

This happens in the cold and the summer in Wisconsin where the temp will hit 100 degrees, it is garage kept.

It sounds like your battery is low and the signals won't work right until it charges a bit while you're riding. How old is the battery?

This will be the second season for the battery, I have it in the basement on a wood workbench with a battery tender attached. Never had a starting problem

You might have a bulb (or two) that are not grounding good. I had this happen on my Suzi. (Gently tweaked the socket a little cosed) As you ride the bulbs get a little shake and find ground. Check to see how well each bulb fits in it's socket. Sometimes 'Dollarstore' bulbs (cheap) aren't quite the right diameter to work real well. Something to look at anyway. Good luck with it!

Default Resolution?

I have the same exact problem with my '84 v65 Magna. They usually don't work right away when I start the bike after it has been sitting. Sometimes they do, though. So I slide the switch to operate either blinker and leave it on while the bike warms up. Often, they start working within a couple minutes. Sometimes it takes longer though. It does seem to be worse in damp (foggy) weather, or when it's cold ... but, again, not always.

I've replaced the bulbs with quality 1157 & 1156 bulbs after cleaning all the sockets. I used dielectric grease on the bulbs/sockets to minimize moisture/corrosion problems. No difference.

I pulled apart the switch to how it looked. No corrosion and nothing appears to be damaged. Applied dielectric grease just in case.

Replaced the flasher relay under the seat (again with dielectric grease just in case).

Everything still works exactly like it did before: usually takes time for them to start working. Tend work fine once they do start working, but sometimes they just randomly stop working.

I suspect the auto cancel feature/circuitry may be to blame. Is there any way to bypass or disable it - basically just remove that to eliminate it as a source of trouble?
