Default CB 100 petcock/carb issues

Hey guys. I recently bought a cb 100 for the girlfriend to ride around on. The original petcock was pretty gunked up, so I went ahead and bought a new one. I put it on, and no fuel flow at all. There is nothing clogging the tubes. The sediment bowl fills, I get flow through the bottom if the sediment bowl is removed.

Do these bikes have a sort of vacuum operated petcock that only feeds gas when sucked by the carb? Or is it perhaps something else? I'm completely stumped. Any help is appreciated.

Sometimes the gas cap vent will get plugged and cause a vaccum on the gas tank and not allow fuel to flow. Take the gas cap off and see what happens. While the gas cap is off check the condition of the inside of the gas tank. Could be enough loose rust moving around to cause issues.

Hey Skate66, I recently bought a 73 cb 100 tank and need to re- locate the petcock as i am fitting it to a nx 650. how did you remove the petcock? There are no screws to undo or threads to unscrew,it looks like it has been riveted on with a lug, and filed smooth. There is no visible way in which it is attached. i am ready to cut it of with a grinder, but dont want to botch it. Did you drill it out?
Cheers Joe.
