Changing the signal switch is pretty trivial. The electrical connectors are located into your headlight casing. Corrosion often makes it hard to loosen the jammed screws. A bolt extractor may become handy.
I suggest you take notes and tag cables as you disconnect them. Before you reassemble the headlight, just make sure you have a snug contact on each terminal, so all lights and flashers will be working as they should. Take this opportunity to change your set of fuses and spares. Over time, corrosion often breaks the fuse seal and even if it looks ok trought he glass tube, it does not make a reliable connection anymore. This is cheap insurance against electrical problems on an old bike.
