Im a n00b so frgive me if these are stupid ?'s
I have Just 4/5 ?'s: *What is, or should the top speed of a stock GSXR400R be? *Explain how changing sprocket sizes effect the bike? *I heard bikes from Japan are restricted, how does the restricter work and how will I know if my bike has a restriction? if so how do I disable it? *Can I make my 400 faster on pull away and will it effect top end? Thanks again (eager to learn) |

*The top speed of that bike should be about 130-140mph (Not exactly dure though I could be wrong)
*Sproket size - a smaller rear sprocket= faster acceleration but lower top speed. Larger rear sproket= more top speed but slowwer acceleration. *Not sure about older bikes but the newer sportbikes from japan have limitations such as rev limiters, and on top of that the newer ones have more sensors than a nuclear power plant. I know on my 07gsxr600 I have 4 sensors in my throttle body alone 2 in the clutch and about 40 others spread around. As far as disableing restrictors Im not sure, I know with after market computers for the bike youll have more controll of it so maybe you can disable limitations that way. *If you change your sprocket sizes (make front larger and/or rear smaller) you will take off quicker but this will also lower your top speed. And remember this for changing the front sprocket, a 1 tooth incriment on the front is equal to about 3 teeth on the back. If you are going to mod your bike and only ride on the street then top speed isnt that important, if its for the track try to set it up to where youre fastest speed on the track is a little lower than your bikes top speed that way u get the most acceleration and still dont hit top speed b4 u start breaking. (Im no expert so if Im wrong on nething sorry, ne one feel free to correct me.) |

(Im no expert so if Im wrong on nething sorry, ne one feel free to correct me.) A smaller REAR sprocket equals slower acceleration but a higher possible top speed (if you have the power for it). A smaller FRONT sprocket equals faster acceleration at the expense of top speed. Likewise a larger FRONT sprocket has the exact same effect as a smaller REAR sprocket. It works exactly the same as a bicycle with multiple gears. Most of the time, going bigger on the front or smaller on the back, for more top speed, just turns the bike into an absolute dog. The factory gearing is usually a "best of both worlds". Also, with ANY change, the speedometer will be off. |
