I get 39 - 41 mpg on my 98 Royal Star Tour Classic. If I lost about 100lbs it would be better.

I have a 04 road star silverado 1700 which there isn't much difference and I get around 40 miles to the gallon on an average and I ride pretty hard on a daily basis.

I have a 2007 Royal Star Deluxe and I get 38 mpg when driving 70 mph. But I get 52mpg when I drive 55mph. I have tested it again and again... If gas mileage is what you want, slow down and smell the roses. It's all about the ride anyhow.

The Roadstar is totally different as it is a larger V-twin as opposed to the V-four of the Royal Star. They have roughly the same horsepower but the Roadstar is about 20 pounds heavier and the Royal Star XVZ is a 1300. My 2005 Roadstar will pull about the same mileage yours does 38-40. The Royal Star is also shaft drive as opposed to belt. That Royal Star should hover around 45-50mpg combination riding with a cool hand.

Actually at 787 lbs the Royal Star is about 75 pounds heavier than the Road Star. Maybe that is why the mpg fluxuates more with the smaller 1300 engine.

Somebody put rocks in that bikes saddle bags or what? The bike pictured is a 1997 Royal Star Tour Deluxe XVZ1300 and it weighs 672 pounds. In contrast, my 2005 Roadstar with no bags, no windshield, no auxiliary lights, no nothing because it is naked weighs 679 dry.

I'm just going by the Yamaha website specs. The 2005 and up Royal Star Tour Deluxe with bags have a dry weight of 787 lbs. I did pick it up once and I know it is one freakishly heavy bike. I had back pains for a week. I have read reviews that compare this bike with the Harley Road King and they say the RSTD is heavier. I wonder where is the extra weight since the engine is basically the same? I guess I will check the bags for rocks.

The Royal Star Venture has all sorts of accessories to add dry weight. Things like a full touring package that includes plush seating, full hard cases, full fairing and so on will add 100 pounds quick. Take them off and you're back in the high 600 pound range.

My 2004 Royal Star Venture gets approx. 45 MPG riding around 55-65 mph. It's always been consistant. Now, if I add a second rider on there, it drops to about 38-42 mpg. That's still okay with me, it's comfortable and looks real good!!! And according to Yamaha, the 2004 Venture is 807 lbs. dry.
