Default 1974 indian me 100CC magneto?

I have a 1974 Indian ME 100cc ultralight that is a very rare motorcycle. It uses a 6 volt system. The local bike shop owner tried to find a magneto for it for 6 months. If anyone has one or knows where one can be bought please email me at detroitdiesel1973@yahoo.com Thanks

I remember those things, but, I can't recall what they had for engines. Log on to www.vjmc.com (vintage japanese motorcycle club) you have to join to fully access the site, but, it may be a wealth of info and part sources for you??? If it needs to be rewound you may be able to get it done at someplace where they repair electric motors.

John,,,Those bikes used what is actually a Hodaka engine.(The 100 is the ONLY Indian which uses that engine,,all the rest were Italian)You'll maybe"never"find Indian Parts,,but Hodaka parts are available.Hodaka's themselves went outa biz in the 80's,,but lots of parts Reproductions are availableHere's one source for new parts(Not everything listed is necessarily available,,but it's good pictures)http://www.hodaka-parts.com/92_DE.aspHere's some Used Mag stuff on Ebay*has Lighting&Ignition coil....(I'd put new points and condensor)This seller also has the Flyweel avaiable in a separate auction on Ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HODAK...nameZWD1V*This is a single coil,,,,it"should be"Ignition coil>>unless somebody switched positions. The seller sez"smaller wire coil"is intact,,,which IS the Ignition coil.Lighting coil used very much heavier gauge wire.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HODAK..............For secondary coil--the"Spark Plug Coil",,,any small'60'~80's dirt bike with a breaker point magneto will work.Igntion Points Interchange,,,I cannot recall,,,but some of the'60's ~'80's Jap Bikes use same ignition points&condensors.Honda 50's&70's ???Kawasaki 90&100's??No Big Deal,,points last well in those engines,,and Hodaka ones are readily available..........................Here's a couple links that should be good info sources about your enginehttp://www.strictlyhodaka.com/http://www.hodakaheaven.com/Hope that helps
