Default Indian Engines Status (Unofficial Report)

Just an informal request Folks. Would really appreciate having postings of folk's experiences so far with both the S&S supplied and then finally Indian Gilroy-Manufactured Power-Plus engines. This pertaining to engines ONLY - not the rest of it. What's you're overall conclusions so far? Love em'? Hate em'? Or? I dunno - seems "mums the word" on this stuff online, don't know why? I'm still hoping for my own later model Indian myself someday. Would be nice to have a better idea what to expect beforehand? Sure did with my Victory. Sure do IF I should ever (?) get an Excelsior-Henderson. But what about THIS millennium’s Indian? I dunno...

Default Indian Engines Status (Unofficial Report)

Ok so the scout I have never had a problem with the S&S engine. The top motor mount did have to be replaced, this is a known issue with the S&S bikes.
The 03 Chief I bought off ebay from a HD dealer in Minnesota for about $10600 and 6k miles on it knowing full well I would have to have the engine rebuilt more than likely at some time. Rode it for a year and had no problems whatsoever but knowing the problems there were with them, every time a rock hit the fender or a noise was there it was OMG are the bearings trashing out? Talk about making for unpleasant riding at times!
I opted to send mine to Joe Malfa at http://jamltd.com/ and have him do his performance build on it which takes care of the problem with the crank bearings due to bad castings. She runs like a top and will eat a screamin eagle up very quickly:D There are also 3 other places that rebuild the engines http://www.blackhawkmotorworks.com/ Frank there also strokes them as a option to 110ci, http://www.pm2powertrainltd.com
better know as "posey" and http://crazyhorsemotorcycles.com/
who rebuilds engines and also supplies newly manufactured upgraded engines. (they bought the leftover stock from the original Indian engine supplier) that they call the V-Plus.
