Default Did Honda Make a Horizontally Mounted V-Twin in the 80's?

I am trying to find the model of a Honda I saw parked the other day. It had Honda badge , but had a horizontally mounted V-twin (think Moto-Guzzi). It also had a 2 into 2 exhaust with one pipe one each side for it's respective Cylinder. It looked to be an 80's something UJM. Anyone Know what this thing is? Or is it possible that it was a parallel twin that I a mistaking for a V? ------

yes they didi don't remember the exact model number but i think it might also have been called the hondamatic,semi-auto trans,if i remember right it was a 500 or 550 cc bike.it never was very popular, though it has a cult following, sort of the stamp collectors of the motorcycling world

In '78 it was introduced as the CX-500, later it came in two additional variants, the CX-500 Custom and CX-500 Deluxe. Later it was upgraded to a 650, one model even sported a turbo charger. There was one Variant called the Silverwing (not to be confused with today's uberscooter) - it was dubbed the GL-650.

CX-500 here:

It was a pretty good motorcycle in it's day.

Here's my 1983 GL650 Interstate, the Silverwing. Definitely NOT a scooter lol. There is somewhat of a cult following with these bikes--friend of mine that races vintage bikes was telling me about some of the people he knows that have them, they're crazy about them. I got mine mainly cuz its got decent bags and fairing for commuting, its old so the taxes are nil, and its way more reliable than my Ironhead.

They only made the 650 cc that one year. The GL500s are neat bikes too, they made those from 81-83 or 84 I think.
