All right, I just picked up my new Speed Triple (no, not the pink, the black) and am dismayed to see no one has posted on the Triumph forum for nearly two months. What better spot for my first post?:D
At any rate, I'm wondering what bags work best with a Speed Triple, for those days when I need to carry more than the PowerBar that will fit under the seat. Has anyone found any saddlebags that are easily removable? Which tank bag seems to work best on the Triple? Come on, let's wake this forum up a little bit.

Thorn:
I use the Eclipse sportbike bags. They are tapered so they give you plenty of clearance above the exhaust, but you can get a fair amount of stuff in them, especially clothes folded carefully so they fit the space. I don't use the rain covers because I don't trust them. I wrap my stuff in plastic bags on rainy days. They have two straps that go over the passenger seat and one that goes around the tail and buckles. Then there are two straps that snap into plastic buckles you mount on the bike. I bolted them to the heel guard plates behind the foot pegs. Once these are bolted on, taking the bags off and on literally takes a few seconds. Of course if you can't stand to see those buckles when you're not using the bags, then you'll have to spend some time unbolting them. I just leave them on. They're black aluminum and plastic and not terribly noticeable on a black bike. I also use a tail pack sometimes, along with or instead of the saddlebags, depending on my needs. In either case, use the rear seat, not the cowl, because the straps on the bags will mar the surface of the cowl. |

Nice to see another of the faithful on the board. If you are interested, I have just begun hanging with a group of riders in Phoenix called the Phoenix Sportbike Club. They have a forum on this board. Since I am the only Triumph rider, I could use some help representin'.

thorn, I agree with motociclista, the eclipse sport pack bags work well . I have not found a tank bag that will stay in place at speed, so I have a Oneal back pack with chest and waist straps (about $80.00) .I will hold a lot of gear and a full face Arai J.T t509:D

i picked this up at the bike show... it's kinda small, and the shell is hard, so you can't overstuff it but it's just what i needed. it also doubles as a backpack when you take it off.
the company that makes it (Scoop, i think) has a site where you can buy it... i'll dig it up and post it here if nobody comes up with it first. i paid $100 for it. |

This isn't exactly a Speed Triple, but it is a triumph. I know how much I like the way these look on my FZ1. So I figured I'd look to see what I could find. If you interested, contact Bob and Laura Sims and ask if they have Givi's for the Speed Triples...
