Can anyone tell me how to justify getting a Harley over Honda?

I really wanted to get a used 2007 Harley Road Glide with 8500 miles but the $16k stopped me. I can afford the bike but care not to waste it when I could spend it around the house. I found a dealer that has a New 2006 Honda model VTX 1800 with $1000 back for $8600. I only looked into this bike after seeing a used VTX 1300 at the Harley shop for about the same price as the new 1800 at Honda. I have not ridden in 10 years and not married to any brand. I am just trying to see any REAL reason justify the extra $$, but haven't seen any reasons to do so.Is there another model besides the V Rod that compares to the VTX? That is all I see for comparisons online.I do love the looks of the Harley, but not looks alone for double the price. Maybe I am missing something. Oh, yeah...I already have a beautiful wife who could care less about it so it is not to make up for anything/impress anyone. I just want to ride. Thanks

I have and 1800c and I owned a Harley 1200 sportster, I liked my Harley, but the repairs were killing me, I have had this 1800 for 2 years now and other than normal service it has not left me on the side of the road. If there was a way you could rent one of each bike for a day[not the same day]and spend a few hours on the highway[preferably with your wife on]. Do that and I think you will find the choice easy. The one your wife finds the most comfortable will bring you the most enjoyment. If however she thinks they both suck, buy two hondas and get her a licence. tee hee

Test ride both and you decide. I think you'll fall in love with the VTX and save a ton of cash.
