If you're a Harley nut or Honda hater, don't bug me, please. I want a shaft drive bike low enough for me to ride (I'm 5'6"). I keep hearing both of these bikes are so low that you keep banging your heels or grinding the pegs...true? Also, I hear the Shadow mentioned above is too low-powered for the highway---I also live in AZ, where there are some mountain roads. Advise, please.

I have the Shadow Spirit 750. (2003; 59,000 miles)Get A Bigger Engine Bike!!!The 1300 may be a good choice for someone of your stature.Note - I have never ground the pegs.Pluses for the 750 -- Responds very well to regular maintenance.- It is narrow making lane splitting very easy, especially in heavy traffic.-Very nice on gas. 52 mpg in the rain, 45mpg in the sun. This probably says more about my riding than anything else.- Power when going downhill is adequate.Minuses-- Odd wheel size leaving not many options for tires.- Not enough power to get out of the way on the freeway.- Very slow acceleration above 80 mph- Might not ever get up a hill.- Pegs not far enough out front. You may need a forward control extension kit.- Passenger seat is small but adequate for a 10-year old. Ditto for the passenger peg position.- The speedometer is out of the normal line of sight causing you to look away from the road to check.
