Revs too high on my honda cbr 125cc?

I recently bought a used honda cbr 125R, 2005 plate. What I noticed is the rev is floating around 2000revs. Is this normal, is there anything wrong with the bike which causing it to over rev? what is the norminal revs? How do I adjust it?Thanks,

I take it that you mean it is revving at about 2,000 rpm when the engine is hot and the choke is turned off? If that is the case then you need to adjust the tickover which is done using a screwdriver into a screw on the carburettor. You should refer to a workshop manual to find out how to do this correctly and set it to the correct revs. Another thing to check is to see that your throttle cable has got a small amount of free movement on the twistgrip. If the cable has been adjusted too tightly this could also cause the engine to rev highly. Good luck.

tick over is adjusted to high..there will be an adjustment on the side of the carb,normally a thumb screw,now be carfull cos there might be 2 or 3..its going to be the bigest of them....best bet is to have the bike ticking over and turn it half a turn anti clockwise..if it makes no difference turn it back and try another...youll know the right one when the revs drop...
