I was wondering if any mechanics out there have come accross this. My bike has started to chatter during take off like first gear is too high or something. The bike has been sitting for about 3 years and I just resurected it.

does it do it in neutral: This is important to seperate tranmistion and engine. If its engine you need to make sure oil pump is working. If when your stored it 3 years ago valves werent tapping and they are now i suspect lubrication. On the flip, if it seems to be trani related, it could be clutch chatter, moisture in with tranny oil

It does sound like a clutch. I suggest you ride it a bit. The clutch could be glazed, or the surfaces could be corroded. Whatever you do, don't slip it too much. Treat it like a normal clutch and it may return to proper operation. Unrelated to your issue, I'd change all the brake fluid and coolant, as well as engine oil. Let us know what you find out.
