I am replacing the side fairings on my gixxer and the stock ones have a aluminum foil type tape on the bottom of the fairings where both connect (underneath the bike). I believe this is to reflect the heat coming off the engine and prevent that part of the fairing to heat up. The new fairings dont have this so is it an absolute must that I go out and buy this reflective tape or can I do without it. Thanks

No it is not needed! However you do want to be sure that you keep the factory coolant in your bike. Depending the state you live in you will want to make some changes to your oil as well. I am in AZ and run 50 weight due to the extrem heat. i too have had to change out fairings and this is what i have done. take care. keep your feet on the pegs and nose off the glass!
