ok here we go... I will show u the formulas using SI units, if you get the concept you should be able to translate the idea into american-nonsense-units.First step, find the RPM of the wheels. On the R6 2007 (which is the one I have :-P ) these are the ratios:GEAR 3= 1.667PRIMARY REDUCTION= 2.07SECONDARY REDUCTION= 2.81The total reduction is the product of the 3 above.TOTAL REDUCTION in 3rd=9.696Now the RPM at the weels is:WheelRPM=EngineRPM/9.696So at 12000 it is 1237.56 RPMConver to radian/seconds:speedRadSec=1237.56 /60*(2*PI)=129.53 rad/sNow we need to convert from rotation to road speed in meter/second, to do it we need the wheel radius..for the r6 180/55/R17 tyre that is approx 0.31m.speedMS=speedRadSec*radius=129.53 *0.31=40.154 m/sFinally to get KMH:speedKMH=speedMS*3.6=40.154 *3.6=144.557 Km/hWhich, in mph gives me 89.something.. those 90 mph u were indicating above.
