whats wrong w my 2001 yamaha R6 cycle?

i was riding along and the digital speedo and tach crapped out but the motor continued along fine for another minute then died..stranding me..i checked battery it was discharged to 15 percent...more than likely what caused this?..the stator?..the battery seems to be recharging and is only 2 mos old...so what is wrong w my cycle and how can i test..fix it?
