any and all convictions affect your record. Some companies forgive the first offense (or accidents). Fight it, get lucky and get off scott free. You can try to make a deal with the crown whenever you go to trial get the points taken off.

I know with Jevco, they don't care about the first two minor tickets. After that there is a surcharge. Points don't matter for most, but some use them a a factor in determining how severe the offence is.
Call your broker & ask. Do it anonymously if you feel the need. |

I haven't heard of any insurer using points when determining rates. Your ticket is classified as either a Minor, Major, or Serious by the insurance company. Most tickets are minor, and only the more extreme (DUI, Careless, Dangerous Driving, etc.) are Major or Serious. Minor convictions don't usually affect your rate too much for the first one or two . . . maybe 10% on your second offence. Majors can affect your premium by 50% or more on the first offense.
Just FYI, your company will not likely do a MVR on you when you renew, so they are not likely to find out about it anyways. I wouldn't worry . . . it sounds like your record is pretty clean. Cheers! |

I always thought that unless it was a "moving violation", it didn't affect insurance? For instance, not carrying your license is an offense under the HTSA but getting those 90$ tickets have never affected my insurance.
Meh, you learn something new everyday. I'll have to remember to buckle up. |

Meh, you learn something new everyday. I'll have to remember to buckle up. Not wearing your seatbelt IS a moving violation and is completely preventable. If you were caught without your seatbelt once, chances are that you go without your seatbelt often. If you get in an accident without your seatbelt on, the Accident Benefits claims can go through the roof; that is, if the death benefit doesn't kick in first. Cheers! |

Hello: Yesterday I recieved a seatbelt ticket which I BELIEVE IS TWO points, does anyone know if this will affect my motorcycle insurance.I had a perfect record until now.
Thanks:R.J Your first conviction with most insurer's is free. Some carriers give you a conviction free discount, which if you have one, you'll lose on renewal. |
