I really didn't want to answer this question, Eli, A 2 stroke engine is much more maint then a 4 stroke engine, and indeed, they will be banned one day because of EPA, that's why only limited amounts are made, even boats don't allow 2 stroke anymore. But with that said, I would recommend that either you read up on 2 stroke maint or visit your local bike shop and ask the mech or even better, look at the manual on the bike your thinking of buying.BTW, that bike is rated one of the best...as for prices, goto kellys blue book motorcycles and type in model, year make and it will list the going price in your area. ------

It shouldn't be hard to find a good one. Very few people race a 2 stroke 250 anymore so chances are you can find a nice one that has just been trail ridden. As far as maintenance, there really isn't much difference between a 250 2 stroke and a 250/450F. On the F models you have to check and adjust valves on a fairly regular basis and of course you don't on a 2 stroke so actually the 2 stroke is a little less maintenance.Where piston and rings are concerned that totally depends on how you ride the bike, if this were a 125 you would probably be revving it very high most of the time and would need piston/rings yearly, but on a 250 that is ridden in a moderate manner you should get 3 seasons of riding out of a piston and rings. Price will depend of condition, but you could find a nice'06 for $4000. Have a look at the link below to get some ideas.http://www.cycletrader.com/find/sear...ort-Year:DESC/ ------
