Ok so I plan on getting a 06 or newer kawi 650r next summer after I pay off a loan and sell my current two wheeler: a 250cc scooter. Before you say a 650cc is too much I am 6'2"~290 lbs, I need something that can push me without too much effort at highway speeds.Currently I pay like 400 a year for that scooter with full coverage ie comprehensive since its financed. A friend told me to use foremost when I get a real motorcycle since they"alledgedly"have great rates and coverage. Apparently they are a part of State Farm, which I currently have.Yet when I requested a quote with the type of insurance I currently have on my scooter (same deductibles, but on a 2007 cbr600r, which is actually only a grand more than my scooter in cash value which is an 09 model.) and it was more than the cost of the bike: ~10k a year!!!So my question is what is your average annual premium for something like an 06 or newer kawi 650r or cbr600, or since I have read that dressings add to premiums, a SV650, again all 06 or newer. Please specify coverage type: basic coverage, collision, comprehensive, etc. I dont need medical coverage as I have great coverage through my work so that isnt a factor.well it seems i may have to use geico as they are the cheapest. i played with their quote system and going from 0 to 1 year of experience cut the premium in half with comprehensive coverage with $500 deductible in case it gets stolen coming to $521 a year. although i still have to check with my current insurance agent as she really does give me good discounts. the jury is still out though

The biggest change to premiums is your postcode. In the UK, i moved from YO30 ( out skirts of York ) to YO1 ( inner city centre&with in the city walls ), my insurance sent me a letter saying to NOT pay anythink for the 2 MX bikes&only pay £7 rather then £400 for the TLR 1000 Suzuki I owned at the time.Just go online and have a look. Most insurance firms have a"lucky draw"system anyway, where you pay the number they give.

I would call a differnet agent. Obviously no one pays 10k a year for insurance! I pay about $30 a month for my 07 GSX-R 600 through State Farm with out the medical coverage. I have good medical through work, so I don't have to pay for it on my bike. As far as I know, State Farm is the only agency that allows you to do that. If that doesn't work, keep calling around.
