I went to a dealership the other day and sat down to be financed on the bike I liked. The salesman starts adding up the different fees and before I knew it he had tacked on an extra $5,000. There was a shipping fee of $1000, and an assembly fee of $2500 because the bike comes in a crate along with a couple of other fees. My friend recently paid for a bike in cash and he only had about $2000 in fees and his bikes msrp was more than mine. Are these guys just trying to rip me off or is that about standard?I live in California and the bike was a 2008 suzuki gsxr 600.

Shipping should be between 250 and 750 depending on the bike, most are in the $400.00 range. The setup fee is usually in the neighborhood of $250, sometimes less.
In addition, you will need to pay sales tax and registration. Id the additional charges are a total of $2000 - isn't that out of line. |
