I just bought a 08 Yamaha FZ6 I've only been riding it for about 5 days and I've had to fill up the tank twice. The first time I only got about 70 miles before it started flashing empty. With the last tank I got about 120 which is better but still about the same as the SUV I used to drive which is not something I was expecting when I bought the bike. Is there something I can do to adjust the fuel intake or anything that will help?

40 miles to the gallon or better is what its built for, any less and you need to take it back to dealer. It is a sports bike.!http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr.../features.aspx

Give it a a chance. The engine isn't broken in yet. When you get to about 2500 to 3300 miles, things should change.Use 93 Octane. many dispute the MPG benefit but I'll break it down for ya.Consistent use of 87 octane has been proven to produce more gunk buildup in a fuel system, than that of a vehicle which consistently uses 93 octane. Why? Higher octane has more detergents in the gas so it burns cleaner.Common sense would tell any sane person that a cleaner fuel system will have better MPG than a gunked up fuel system. So by spending 80 cents more per fill up, you help keep or improve your MPG. Many people report plain out poor performance using 87.
