Default What service is required after breaking in a new Ninja 250?

I am interested in purchasing a new Ninja 250 (my first bike ever). I have read in many places online that they need to be"serviced"at about 700 miles after the break in period. What does this mean? Is this required of all new motorcycles?

yes all new motorcycles need this. they change the oil and filter. while you are breaking in your bike little metal particles get in your engine. not a bad its literally just being broken in. then they go throu pretty much all the bolts on the bike. the bike obviously comes from the factory with all the bolts tight, but during your initial rides the vibrations from the bike tend to loosen things up. so they will just make sure everything is nice and snug. i would also suggest that you go throu your bike once a month and check it yourself also just to be on the safe side. then they will just go throu your bike and check fluids, tire pressure and so on. if you are still in the break in period try not to beat your bike too bad. anyway congrats on the new bike man have fun!!

JeffyB is correct. The only other adjustments left are:Valve adjustment - that's never needed on the first service.Air cleaner - that's only needed if you ride through dirty trails (street bikes can go 10,000 miles before the air cleaner gets dirty).Check the battery water level - hardly ever needed.Change the spark plugs - if the bike is well maintained, they can last the lifetime of the bike.
