I wish my old man bought me motorcycles!I think it would be a great bike to learn on and get used to some more power. The SV650's are a v-twin which produce good torque and a reasonable amount of horsepower.I think around 80 or 90 hp.They are nice and light for what they are and I have never heard of anyone saying that they are a handful, so it would be a good bike.Troy.

I've read many articles about this bike (i've had a suzuki katana 600 and many off road bikes in my day), and most reviewers have nothing but good things to say about the sv650. Manageable bike for improving your skills and still fast/fun enough for more experienced riders, so it won't be outgrown too quickly as his riding develops. The insurance is higher than a smaller cc or dual sport bike though, but still less than the rockets.
