Pros and Cons: Suzuki SV650?

First off I have never owned a bike but ridden around on others and I think I got the hang of it. It's a fairly small bike and I would use it quiet often to go to school, work, and scenic mountain routes that are perdy curvey. For $6,000 it is probably the most affordable type and maybe find one on ebay or another site for less. I'm 5'7 and weigh 135lbs (I know I'm a smaller guy)What are the Pros and Cons of this bike and do you think it would be an Ok bike to start out on?http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products/SV650K8

, Pros and cons are subjective so I won't mention anything along those lines but if you take a look at various motorcycle comparisons written by motorcycle magazines and reviewers, many consistently rave about the SV650. For the price, it is an excellent machine.As far as it being a starter bike, I'd go for something a little smaller such as an EX500. For a starter bike, get something that is used and cheap. Chances are that you will drop it at some point the first year so why drop a brand new bike?

This is an excellent starter bike. It has good power and a good seating postion for a 1st time rider.They are easy to find used for about 1/2 of the $6,000.00 price you mentioned. My wife owns one she is 5'3"110 pounds and she handles it fine

Jay P is correct. The SV650 is very good but I think the 500 Ninja is excellent. i used to own one and it's a very good bike to learn on. It will be plenty fast and scary for quite a while, reliable as a rock, easy to maintain, cheap to insure and since it;s been around for 20 years used ones are not hard to come by.
