Default How do you remove melted boot from flat black painted motorcycle exhaust pipes?

I have a Victory bike with painted pipes. Would I be able to take it off by heating up the pipes and use a plastic scraper? I've only been able to find info on chrome pipes. THANKS!!

It would depend on what kind of paint was used, and the material which was on your boot. For enamel paint or high-temperature resins, it may damage the paint to get the boot off with a scraper. For anodization (also called"bluing") a scraper will certainly destroy what's there. If your boot sole was actually made of plastic or latex (as many riding boots are), I would recommend acetone (nail polish remover) to melt it off, but only if it's not a plastic or vinyl-based paint (yes, they do make vinyl paints that stick to metal and do okay under high temperatures). Plastic, vinyl, and latex are all melted by acetone.Discovering what materials are going to be interacted with will help you avoid damage. The enamel paint on your gas tank, for example, would be damaged by acetone, though the tank itself would be fine. However, getting a new paint job (as you doubtless know) is kind of expensive.
