My SV650 has been in storage since November (in Chicago). I moved it once in December. It's not on a lift, so i'm worried the wheels will develop flat spots. How long do flat spots usually take to develp. If they do, are new tires the only option? It's in a garage, but the door is not always closed, so the garage does get cold.

Your bike is not likely to have an issue with flat sports formed while it is in storage for 3-5 months if the tires are properly inflated. Many years ago tire construction was different and I would agree that a flat spot could develop. Today, if your tire pressures are good it is not likely to happen.I have been storing my current motorcycle which does not come with a center stand for years on it's side stand during the winter. I have not experienced any"flat"spots from having sat in the same spot for a few months. This is my 5th motorcycle since 1985 and I'm sure you'll be fine.Look into the purchase of a battery"tender".
