does anyone know the proper way to check oil level on 1995 honda shadow ace 1100.?

on stand or upright ?

Upright.Start and run the engine for a few minutes to fill the oil filter and let the oil circulate throughout the engine.Stop the engine and let it sit for a few minutes to let the oil drain down to the crankcase.Hold the bike upright.When checking the oil level, rest the dipstick on its threads (do not screw it in when checking the level).
