Clearly sounds like your top end needs to be rebuilt: oversize pistons and rings, engine heads and timing chains. Adjusting valves on a V65 may be tricky, because this model has been trough recalls and several corrective measures have been recommended by Honda. Fast idle can likely be corrected from idle carb adjustments. Do you have a shop manual ? if not, get one in a hurry !!!

Rebuilding a V4 is probably not economical, even if you can find all the required parts unless you are a qualified mechanics. I would rather consider finding a used engine and keep the old for spare parts.

Good luck

Martin

Definitely sounds like you've got something going on in the head. Broken valve stem, vale spring, or the retaining nut could have backed off. Hard to say. Easiest thing to check would be the valve clearance. Pull off the head and look in the manual for the valve clearance. Use a feeler gauge and check it out.
