Another carb. cleaning question!
But I have already watched the youtube videos and read a lot online. So, I got a dirty old pair of Carbs to clean up. They are really dirty. I have cleaned the jets and bowls and all the lower stuff. Some tutorials say that if I get any carb cleaner on the rubber and plastic stuff like o rings they will be shot. So they say don't soak em in cleaner. But then the videos I watch people spray all thru no problem. With the throttle shaft, the float bowl and all it contains, and the top gasket removed, is it safe to get the rest all covered in a coat of cleaner? Can I soak it? Thanks |

use a tooth brush and toothpast with baking soda on the outside of the carbs.... finish up with a soft cloth to polish and rub the tooth past in to the aluminum..... now mix some vinigar and ketsup or tomato past to soak all parts in...... this will clean all none ferrous metals .. now mix some gas and oil for the last soak.. ((keep away from flames))....lol .. . this will clean the crap out of a carb and will not harm rubber gaskets.. .... just my two cents..... ... . i recomend you save this soaking solution in a plastic container to soke other parts that may have tarnished over the years.... ...
