The same thing happens to me sometimes. My DL says that I am required to wear them, but if it gets real bad then I pull the contacts out and just discard them because I see better without dried up moving contacts in my eyes. I usually carry eye drops when I ride, so that I can put some droplets in to help with the problem. Good luck!

If it's happening with the full face, it's probably due to the airflow within the helmet. And having your beloved breaking the wind would account for why it doesn't happen there. Have you tried closing some of the vents to see if that makes a difference?

I wonder, has anybody typically ridden with them in all the time? I've been curious to ride with mine in not wearing my helmet (don't tell the mom) and I've worried that while cruising down the road at a fast pace they'll blur and I'll lose my sight. Thoughts anyone?

P.S. I know it's dangerous.

You should always have something covering your eyes, like glasses or googles. I would be willing to bet it's the law because it is the law in PA. Even without contacts and nothing covering your eyes they would dry out real fast at 40mph or less.

One thing you could do if you were dead set on not wearing a helmet and wearing your contacts is pick up a pair of aviator type sunglasses then next time you're at the eye doctors see if they have side shields to fit them. Wind won't get in that way and dry out the contacts.

What he said. But keep in mind: the goggles need air to pass through them; it is very bad to wear contacts with goggles or any type of mask that don't allow air to circulate through them. (so I hear, anyway)

I ride with contacts and a full face helmet with no problems. Can't say what they're like without the helmet because that's just dumb.

Do you close the vents on your hemet?
I know I can ride all day with my (Reg. Glasses) no problems.
but I can only ride about 10 miles when I wear my contacts before they get blurry.

Because of the temp, I had the two inlets closed, and since I just switched back to contacts I can't really speak yet to how it is with them open. The exit vents in the chinbar were open. Different helmets will have a different airflow, so it could be your particular helmet also. I have an HJC CL-12. As riding season gets into full swing, I'll let you know what I find with it.

I rode in this morning with my HJC, sunglasses, shield closed almost the whole way, just open one notch. I started with all vents closed and then opened the chin vent and then the forehead vent, and didn't have any problems at 65mph.
