Practice parking lots in Marina Del Ray, CA?

I know this isn't a regional forum, but I'm hoping someone could help.

I recently passed my MSF course and I received my M1 license endorsement.

I plan on renting a Honda ST1300 or a BMW 1200ST (I believe) and I am looking for a parking lot of which I can practice some simple maneuvers on the motorcycle before taking it on the public roads.

Can anyone recommend a good area around MDR (since this is where the rental place is) that I could take the bike to practice?

Heya, don't know anything about your area but I'm fixing to head to a school parking lot in a few mins. School or church parking lots are usually pretty big and empty during the evenings

I'll have to look around. Here in LA, everything sucks and is difficult to do. Too many people, too many vehicles, parking lots are usually guarded, etc, when not in use. If it were MI (where I'm from), I would have no problem at all, but since it is not, I'll have to find something!

I think there is a home depot near MDR with a huge lot - have to check that out.

How about the public entrance to some of the beach heads down there? Are they still public, or has Streisand bought all of 'em?
