Smile first bike choice ?

hey I'm new to this posting thread's kinda thing anyway i haven't had a bike before buy for the whole last year I have been saving up to get a Harley Davidson ( fat boy 2011 model ) but if i get it into i will drop it as i havent had any experience on a bike with that much power so my question's are
what bike should i get so i gain experience on a bike?
also what age in the uk would i have to be before i would get insured by harley Davidson and be able to ride it
and lastly im 5ft9 would i fit onto the fat boy or am i getting my hopes up on a much larger/smaller bike ?
thanks to anyone who can answer my questions

Harley Davidson bikes are designed to be customized and accessorized... making them a part heaven for theift. I don't think you need that much experience to ride one as much as you need a secured garage and a very good relationship with your insurance broker. Two years of ihe insurance premium on a HD is likely to cost you about the same price as a decent japanese bike which is likely to be more reliable ... but it would not be a HD, right ?

I don not think the power would be an issue concerning dropping it. However, the weight can be quite a handful.
