Default GZ250 wont start

My motorcycle hasnt been used since late July. Its only mid october now and I am taking it out for the first time. The air in the tires held perfectly, the visable condition of the bike is just as it was when I closed the door in July, and theres still gas in the tank when I left it. The bike only has 6 miles on it. I will start it with the choke on full way, and leave it for about 5 minutes. I try to take the choke off and it dies. I put the choke on half way for about 10 minutes. Still no dice. I tried once more but still didnt work. Is it possible that my bike might require the choke on for a full 15 - 20 minutes for being started for the first time in a few months? I have a Suzuki GZ250. I just bought it and im afraid somthings gone wrong? This is my first bike. The dealer made me so fearfull of using the choke that I am hessistant to put it on for more then 15 minutues.

If the bike has only set since July the gas should not have gone bad already, I would suggest that you fill the tank up the rest of the way and maybe put some gas line/Carb cleaner in the tank and run it for 5 to 10 minutes again. If it runs with the choke only it's probably not getting to much fuel into the cylinder and should not do any damage. make sure that the shut off valve is open also.

Gas can go bad in just a few weeks. For one, ethanol in gasoline will absorb water. The best thing to do would be to drain the tank and put fresh gas in. If that doesn't work, then like BMR528 said, try some carb cleaner in the tank.

I would drain the fuel out of the float bowl first. It will more than likely be yellow and smell really bad. After the float bowl filled back up I would try to start the bike with the choke if need be. After I knew it was warmed up I would turn the choke off and see if the bike would idle. If it didn't, that would tell me that the pilot jet is more than likely clogged and I would have to clean it out. It doesn't take long for a small amount of gas to go bad. The fuel in the float bowl will go bad long before the fuel in the tank will.
