Default Honda CM400E or Shadow Spirit

OK this is my story...Have never rode a motorcycle before. Am taking the MSF coarse the end of August. Currently have my temps.
I was looking at a 1980 Honda CM400E that someone I know is selling for a friend, but not sure if I should spend the extra money and get the Honda Shadow 750 Spirit that I have been dreaming of.
The CM400 requires nothing and is in good shape.
On one hand I know I should get the CM400 but the Shadow is such a cool bike.
Or should I buy the CM400 and put some money towards some gear. Ride it for a year then invest in the Shadow.
I am sure it will be a blast either way.
My riding will be mostly in town but can see an occasional highway ride.
Thanks for any suggestions.

i started on a dirt bike suzuki 250 moved up to a kawasaki zx750 but that's just me .i wanted more power and speed.

I think I made a desicion. Buy the CM400 learn to ride then either convert to a Cafe Racer or sell and by another bike. This way I will not go cheap on safety gear. I am taking the MSF coarse in 2 weeks and am super pumped, can't wait.

Honda CM400E would be my choice as it has a vintage look to it and that's what most attracts me, I hope it does make you feel the same way. If so you better make the best choice.

Default Cm400e

CM400E is an excellent beginner's bike.
Version E has poor brakes, but it is ok within legal limits without a passenger.

Version CM400T (the one I'm driving) has better brakes
Version C has the best brakes (dual piston)

Don't hesitate to ask me for advise, this is the bike I know best.

Happy ride !

Martin

Its a nighthawk series of the motorbike.from the begin of the 1979 honda manufacturing CM 400 model. But Brand new available with 400cc .
The new Shadow Spirit was created out of a desire to build a ‘Cool and Sporty Cruiser’ that could appeal to a wider range of riders with its more aggressive form and exceptional riding ease.
So from my choice shadow spirit made for we night bikers.

Both motorbikes are great at the manufacture,
But as compare with the shadow spirit - Honda CM400 is more costly and vast maintenance.
So, Shadow spirit is best.
