How long do you think it would take to get sick of the 250? Is it really worth it? |

I got a brand new 2007 in April and got rid of it by July. Nice bike for inner-city riding but on the highway it's a beating. Nimble and efficient, but in no way really suited to the highway. In hindsight I wish I would've just saved my pennies and got a 650R.

Read that and the two links in it. If you are genuinely interested in learning how to ride and becoming a proficient rider, get a starter bike. The Ninja 250 is a fantastic bike and can be ridden very fast through twisties by a skilled rider. If you will be doing a lot of highway riding, a 500 or a 650 is better. A 650 is the most powerful bike I would recommend to a new rider, and only if you have taken the MSF course at minimum. A 600cc (inline-four cylinder) is for experienced riders only. |

I suggest a 650R. You won't outgrow it in a year or maybe even 5 years.
thats what I want to get really bad. But My budget is 6k and I cant find a 08 that fits that budget and that honda is a really good bike and it matches my budget |

For 6k you can get a Ninja 500 in really nice shape and have lots of money left over for good gear and accessories. Or you can get a used 650 that's in decent shape, and still get good gear.

the ninja500's are ugly and arent my kind. And I cant find a Ninja650R that falls in that price range. Ive been looking on Craigslist |

It depends on what kind of riding you're doing. If you're just interested in doing 120 on the freeway, in a straight line, then the 250 will bore you in a few months.
if you're interested in really learning how to ride, the 250 can be fun for a long time. ![]() Also, a lot of people like the ninja650R as a starter bike, but i'm not sure if the 650R or the SV650 are any less prickly than a older I4 600cc. the high torque on these 650 twins can be a dangerous thing for those without some finesse (aka new riders) with the controls. |
