Looking to buy my next bike..

I'm looking to buy my next bike. My first, and only bike, is a Honda CB500. Its a great bike but its heavy to lug around (i'm a 31 year old female and not particularly strong and weigh about 140ibs). I've only got a couple of years riding experience but my confidence isn't good as I'm not often given the chance to ride it (have two young children). I don't find such a commuter bike particularily comfortable to ride, hence why I'm now deciding to try a sportbike. A friend suggested a CBR600. I love the look of my husband's SV650 but looking at some of the comments on here, it may be a little to juicy for me! Any ideas guys would be helpful, and any confidence boosting techniques welcome!!!
