I don't love the looks, but I think it looks better/and gives some people another option over a SV650
All-new 2006 Ninja 650R The all-new Ninja 650R…exciting, eye-catching and bursting with energy. Lightweight and responsive, so that all types of riders can enjoy. Whether you’re an experienced rider or just moving up from a smaller machine, the Ninja 650R offers a combination of versatility, performance and style that is hard to resist. Powered by a compact two-cylinder engine mounted in a sleek, lightweight chassis the Ninja 650R is extremely maneuverable and very rider friendly. The all-new liquid-cooled, DOHC, 8 valve 649cc Parallel Twin with fuel injection delivers smooth, responsive performance, especially in the low and medium rpm ranges. The compact engine allows use of a slim, minimalist frame, resulting in a design that is narrow at the knees and feet. With triple petal disc brakes that look good and provide plenty of braking power, and an instrument panel that includes an odometer, twin tripmeter, clock, LED water-temperature warning lamp, fuel and an LED fuel-injection warning lamp the Ninja 650R is always fun to ride and easy to operate. Ninja 650R in brief The Ninja 650R has something for everyone. Ladies, new riders and returning riders will love the low seat height, lightweight and low-effort controls. Commuters will appreciate the nimble handling and incredible fuel economy. And riders looking for a second bike will be surprised at the Ninja 650R’s impressive all-around performance. Fun to Ride If it’s not fun to ride, it’s not a Kawasaki. The Ninja 650R’s responsive engine is specially tuned for smooth, satisfying power in the low and medium rpm ranges. The lightweight chassis and bodywork fit the rider like a pair of pre-shrunk jeans, making the bike feel like an extension of the rider’s body. And the short wheelbase and highly centralized mass (another advantage of that trick, mid-ship muffler) deliver exceptionally responsive handling qualities, high stability, and a short turning radius. Whether negotiating crowded city traffic or cruising down the highway, the Ninja 650R is always fun to ride. Easy to Ride for a Range of Riders The Ninja 650R is exceptionally easy to ride. The combination of the compact and gutsy Parallel Twin engine and lightweight trellis frame with laydown shock result in a slim, compact package which belie the machine’s impressive performance. Add wind protection, a low seat height, a comfortable riding position and low-effort controls, and the result is a bike that is as easy to ride for new riders as it is satisfying for experienced riders. Sophisticated Styling Sleek as a jungle cat and just as agile, the Ninja 650R has the look and feel of a much more expensive bike. The best looking middleweight on the market, the Ninja 650R is a perfect example of how form follows function, the bike’s clean, flowing lines blending perfectly with the rider’s body. The laydown shock, mid-ship muffler and racy looking 6-spoke wheels, give the Ninja 650R a look that makes it instantly recognizable as a Kawasaki. |

How much does it cost? It would have to cost significantly less than the 636 for me to think about getting one.... I liked the looks of it better in the other pics I saw. i dont know a price, but i would imagine it would be quite a bit less |

Not sold on the rear suspension design.......if that type of shock angle was so great, it'd be used by supersport bikes too. Also I bet it has cheap damper rod forks like the SV I'm still searching for a single instance of you making a positive comment on CF. I think I'd have more luck with that leprechaun's pot o' gold. :nanana As far as the 650R is concerned, I like it. It's refreshing to see something a little different and the SV has been competitionless for far too long. :thumb |
