Does anyone here have their V1 (Valentine One radar detector) mounted to their bike? I'm curious to knw if anyone has figured out a way to mount it without one of those ridiculously high-priced (usually ~100 and more) specialty mounts? I'm asking because I think I have an idea for a cheap-o mounting solution and would like some input. Here's the idea: use the sunshade mount (the one w/the clip instead of suction cups) and clip it to the windsheild, then epoxy/superglue[?] it directly to the windsheild (some of the specialy mounts require drilling[!] holes in the windscreen anyway) and maybe using some kind of tacky rubber cement (so I can get it off for car usage w/the suction cup mount) to mount the unit into the clip. I realize that the unit would be at an extreme downward angle, do you guys think that this would decrease effectiveness at all?
If this doesn't work out I might just sell it, it's not worth spending 25% of the unit's cost just to mount it and my car doesn't go fast enough to need it. :twofinger. On another note, why does anything with the word motorcycle in the product description cost 300% more than it's worth? :redflip PS- What would you guys ask for a slightly used V1 with box, warranty card, and accessories? I even still have the fuse/wiring because I always used the cigarrette lighter power cord instead of hard-wiring it into the 12v system. I paid 400 beans directly from the website. |

Thanks guys! Hey GixxerSquid, you're using it like that? Did you notice any decrease in performance? That's my only concern. I don't care how ugly or 'cheap' it looks, I just want it to be useful.
Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance!
