I'm planning to purchase my first new motorcycle. If you are a rider, tell me which one you would buy and why. I like both in the solid black.I can get a great deal on either, so cost is not a determining factor.

First motorcycle or first new motorcycle? IF you've ridden a lot before, then either bike would be great. I prefer the new R6.If this is your first bike, I would recommend getting a smaller sportsbike (Kawasake EX250, Hyosung GT250R, etc.) or a bike with a more upright sitting positiong. If the riding position on the R6 isn't comfortable, remember that you can switch over to Yamaha FZ6 bars. Same goes for the GSXR and it's"naked"counterpart.

Both of these have power and handling characteristics beyond a noobs control. Start out the right way with a 250/500cc, used, so when you drop it and you WILL drop it, it will not cost you much to fix. For safetys sake, go with one of those sport bikes with at least a riding season under your belt. Good luck.p.s.- dealers don't give a dang what your riding experience is, heck they would sell you a zx10 and would not care if you broke your neck two minutes later.
