Default 1982 cb750 cam chain install

Hi everyone I'm a newbie so here we go. How do you install a new cam chain to the crank on this cb750? We have the engine out and the head is off. Do I have to split the cases? Any help is much appreciated Thank you!

The way I have done it with my yamaha is to split the chain on the bike and attach the new chain to the old one and feed it through. That way you have to old one out and the new one in place:D

Thanks, however, the chain was already busted and shattered one of the cam shaft gears and the whole head had to be replaced. The replacement cam chain is in one piece and doesn't have a link to come apart.

In that case drop one end in and try to grab it with one of those extend magnets.
I hope that helps.

you have to split the cases to put a camchain on a CB750 motor.
some shade trees types have used masterlinks in cam chains, highly unreliable practice.

splitting the cases is not that difficult since you are obviously taking on major mechancal repairs already.

don't force anything and MAKE SURE the shift forks are all in place as you put it back together.

Thanks Mike that's what I thought I had to do. Besides I want to clean all of the broken tiny pieces out of there anyway.

Sorry if my lowly shade tree mechanics offended you!
I am not a trained mech, and can not afford to pay for someone else to do the work for me. So I have to find creative ways of getting things done.
That being said I would never do something that was unsafe!
Oh and I can show you at least 30 people that have used master link cam chains without any problems.
