Default Should i buy it? (aka, enable me! enable me!)

My name is dave, and i have a motor vehicle problem.

1965 Honda Benly 150cc (CA95), new carb, new seat, new battery, new wiring harness, shop manual included, recently painted (though the colors bore me)... Restoration started by current owner, who bought all the stuff, but he ran out of time and needs the space. Wiring is currently un-done, so it's a non-runner. Offering it to me for $350. How am i supposed to turn that down? :confused Any thoughts, other than "big fat guys on little old bikes look like clowns"? :(

This would bring the household fleet to 4 bikes and 4 cars... but i've never owned a kick-start bike before!

Lo, i am weak...

:confused what's to think about??? buy the damn thing! that's a steal and with all the new parts that come with this IMO is a no brainer.

Dave...you can never have too many bikes, running or not. our garage is full; 7 bikes running or in pieces and 4 cars outside. go for it!!!

Heh, the bike is in South Carolina, about 20 miles from me :D At $350 i almost feel like i'm stealing it... i can guess how much he must have spent on all the new parts. The main thing is that i'm not sure i'd get enough use out of such a small-displacement bike to justify adding it to the insurance (although it's gotta be damn near the bottom of the actuarial tables), and i'm already a bit overwhelmed by projects.

But... it's cheap (i love cheap!), and it's not something you see every day (i love weird!), so i'm almost certain to buy it...

i have until Tuesday to decide (and talk my wife into it) since he'll be out of town for Easter.

It's not a big motorcycle, just a groovy little motor-bike...

Those types of bikes are really good for running errands or just cruising old country back roads at slower pace. They are like big mopeds but much, much COOLER!

My CB200T Cafe project bike will be this type of bike, light, not too much power, handle "good enough to do the job",good on gas, simple, look good standing or going etc.

It will be fun for a beginning sportbike rider or for someone umm... older who wants to relive their younger days and hit the back roads and "pretend" they are Mike Hailwood or some other road racing god from the past putting the smack down on their competition, but doing it all at close to the legal speed limit!:D

Yup!
Looks like it'll probably need a new tank, but aside from that, not bad at all... figure i'll get it running, play with it for a year or two, then strip it down again and paint it red :D Just picked it up this morning, so i'll have to post pics tomorrow.

Great and if it's anything like the old Honda step-throughs it should get great gas mileage.
