Default Katana 7/11???

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about buying a 1999 Katana 750 that has a blown motor for dirt cheap. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the Katana use a detuned version of the air/oil cooled GSX-R motors that were used from 85-91 or whatever?

I know that on the first two generations of GSXR750 you can put a GSXR1100 motor in pretty easily, thus making it a GSXR 7/11. So is the same thing possible with the Katana? Could I put a Bandit 1200 or GSXR1100 or 750 motor right in there and have it good to go?

It will bolt in with minor issues.

I would use an 1127 motor(strongest)
with the cable clutch from an early katana 600(left side actuator).
