Default Coloring Clear Fuel Line...

Wasn't sure if this should be on the Cool Mods board or not, but here goes.

Many folks run clear fuel line. If you want to color coordinate the fuel line to match the rest of the bike, it can be done by dipping the clear fuel line in fabric dye, such as RIT.

Heat a pan of water, with enough water to submerge the fuel line, to 200 degrees. If you don't have a thermometer, 200 degrees is about when bubbles just start to form at the bottom of the pan.

For light tints, mix about 1/2 teaspoon of RIT per each pint of water. For heavy tints, 1 full teaspoon of RIT per each pint of water. Light colors require a bit more RIT per water to achieve the desired coloring.

Once the coloring is right, dunk the fuel line into the pan, making sure that some of the coloring goes thru the tube as well (submerge). Use kitchen tongs or a pair of pliers to handle the fuel line so's not to get the coloring dye on your hands.

Steep the fuel line in the pan for approx. 2 minutes. Remove & rinse the fuel line in cold water, inside & out, until no more dye coloring rinses off.

Once completely dry, the dye coloring inside the tubing is impervious to gas.
