Default Rebel Windshield

Hi, I'm new here. The Rebel is my first bike and I have been riding it for a year now. I am looking to install a windshield so that I can do some light touring this summer, and I had some questions pertaining to that issue. But before I ask them I was wondering if anybody could direct me to a previous discussion thread on windshields. I'm sure there has to be one, but I haven't found it. I'd rather read what other people have discussed so that I don't waste anybody's time asking the same questions again. If that's not necessary let me know and I'll just go ahead and ask them. Thanks!

There are several discussions about windshields here. If you do a search, think you'll find a lot of information/opinion. There are a number of factors that will affect your choice and satisfaction with windshields. One is appearance, another is the height of the shield (will it be tall enough to push the wind over your head?) and another is coverage. Some shields are wide enough to cover the handlebars (good for keeping the cold wind off your hands and more of your body in the winter) The Spitfire and Memphis are two mentioned frequently on this forum.

I'm 6', have a Spitfire and the wind hits my helmet just above my eyes. It's too short to push it over the top of my head and I get considerable wind buffeting at speed. If you get a Spitfire, ignore the instructions that come with it and see my post on installation in the Wrencher's Delight section of this forum.

Good luck.

How do I do a search?

I'm also six feet tall and a spitfire is exactly what I was looking for. My main question is whether or not I will be too tall for it. Will I? Does the wind shake your head around? I wear a full faced helmet so I'm not concerned about debris and bugs, but I don't want whiplash either.

Go to the top of this page, and click on search in the right hand corner. Type in "windshield" and click on the go button.

I too wear a full face. The turbulence isn't real bad, but more than I'd like to have, especially with wind gusts and 18 wheeler air turbulence added on. Nothing close to whiplash, just annoying. Not enough so that I'm going to fork over more money just for a taller windscreen. However, had I known in advance, I would have opted for a slightly taller screen.

The best way to set up a shield on a Rebel is so you can look over the top.
The N/C Street shield and the Spitfire are both about perfect. I have both, Spitfire on the 86' and the Street shield on the 09'.
